![]() I'm so glad we didn't drag our travel trailer there because it would have been a bigger expense/disappointment/waste of time. after driving for 1.5 hrs, then packed it up by 2 p.m. Don't they inspect the equipment? They did address the issue by the end of the day. I was astonished that the management didn't know about this. The cable got caught around my son's leg on his way into the water and gave him a good burn. The zip line retrieve cable was broken and was a very serious safety hazard. There was also some trash floating in the water (plastic bags, cans, cups). Not all the water was covered with algae, but enough to be a bother. There's nothing fun about swimming around in water that has a disgusting algae/scuz layer on top. The lower pond, which was actually the spring, was clear and cold, but it was choked with algae and water grass. ![]() I wouldn't let my kids swim in this water. I was worried about amoebas, a single cell protozoa that thrives in this type of water and has caused several deaths over the years. ![]() I don't think I could have gotten my 28' trailer through some of them without getting stuck. The place was dilapidated and trashy looking. We went to Vortex Springs to check out the facilities since we like to trailer camp. We are doing everything in our power to restore in to the treasure it once was. Our new employees are knowledgable and very kind. ![]() The old management is back with vengeance. Please don't write Vortex Spring off as a vacation spot just yet. I will keep you all up to date on the ownership after the 18th. We have repaired the majority of the roads and are endeavoring in efforts to clean the water by removing the algae and under water weeds. I am currently working at Vortex Spring trying to repair the damage that has been done. There is a very high probability that the original owners the Dockerys will get the resort back. The new owner has neglected the property so bad that it is going through a foreclosure sale on the 18th of October. The resort was sold 5 years ago with great sadness from many involved in the upkeep of the property. My name is Connie Taylor and I was the manager at Vortex Spring 5 years ago when it was the amazing vacation spot you all remember. I think that the owners of vortex are getting bad karma for letting the springs go down hill, I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND I WISH THE OWNERS WOULD LOVE THE LAND AGAIN, THEY HAVE LET IT TURN INTO A SESS POOL!!!!ĭear all past and future visitors of Vortex Spring. I thought we could deal with the room as long as the water was pristene, but VORTEX SPRING IS RUINED WITH OVERGROWN UNDERWATER PLANTS AND THE WATER IS FULL OF ALGAE EVERYWHERE!!! Divers were pulling it out all week and making huge stinky piles on the grass and stirred up so much GREEN SLIMEY ALGAE THAT HAS ACCUMULATED THICK IN THE WATER (LOOKS LIKE GREEN JELLYFISH SLIME EVERYWHERE) Needless to say we went to the state park and swam there every day, the water at Ponce De Leon State park is everything that Vortex wishes it could be. I stayed at Vortex Springs from July 16-21 at the pinewood lodge, I had my daughter and two grand-daughters with me, I knew to bring cleaning products for the lodge room because we have been there a couple times before, I sprayed the shower and shower curtain to remove thick MOLD and of course the bunks are dusty and sandy and never cleaned after a guest checks out.
